I find inov-8 sizing quite variable between models (and even different versions of the same models). Over the last year or so I've gone from 11s to 9.5 in them!

I love my inov8 G270s (replacing my g260s). I have recently added a second pair and strangely don't quite love them as much, but would still absolutely recommend them. They're quite a harsh ride to begin with (not as much knocking in as the 260s though). Did the tp100 last year in pair 1 with absolutely no issues (they've just gone through 1000km and still feel great). Sizing wise, same as normal for me, but I can see why some go up half a size as they are snug.

I've never worried about what shoes I wear on the road, because, well, you don't really need anything special. Off road however, you may need grip, rockplate (running on spiky rocks), toe protection (rock kicking) etc.

But then, I've never done a tarmac ultra! Not sure I'd want to! :-) G

Apparently The Wall is largely tarmac HappyG that will be a challenge I’m sure.

On inov8 I wear normal shoe size but I hate what they’ve done to these shoes we loved them fir what they were they look like they’re going more hoka.

I think I might try altras alongside my vibrams - vibrams are definitely my fave now by far.

D33 was advertised as a tarmac ultra, but even half of that was muddy trail (which is good!) GO33 had more tarmac than I expected - was disused railway line (tarmac for cycle path) and 7 miles of a road loop that I didn't expect. Always prefer the hilly, off road.

Did a 52 miler on tarmac last year, tough on the feet and lower legs.

Have a tarmacked 100k coming up on May. Should really think about shoe options for that.

I'd blocked that out a bit! A timely reminder.

I 100% agree with Flanker, Inov8 sizing is exceptionally variable, ridiculously so on occasion. Which reminds me, I've got a load of barely worn (and unworn) shoes to get rid of.

Talking of shoes....

Has anyone tried the NB Hierro? It's subjective I know, but they have to be one of the great unsung ultra shoes. For dry weather I think they're excellent.

I love mine NE, on dry trails they're good and are fine for wet or dry tarmac in between the trails. Not quite so good on wet grass and useless in the mud we've had here recently.
