Best of luck Red. Like your alternative approach to finding somewhere to call home

Thanks Tup. It's been such a painful process trying to sell and buy. If I never see another estate agent again; I will be very grateful for that.

In conversation with lawyer this morning to proceed with the sale at the offered price! My blood pressure will hopefully lower one the missives are signed. I plan to stay in my new abobe as long as I can, selling and buying are so stressful.

Just about to put an offer in on a house, scary it'll be the first time there has only been 1 name on the mortgage, it also depends on mwe being able to negotiate the right price.

RS - no luck at all in your quest, so I can see why you’re exploring a different route. Hope you get what you want out of it.
More viewings proceeding this week. One viewer asked many questions, the loud scary dog she saw 2 doors down is in fact a senile Yorkie terrier, and she is concerned that our Victorian terrace is not built to current building regs.
I have subtly asked estate agent to remind her that houses built 2 centuries prior are unlikely to conform to modern day standards because they are old.
She was apparently very keen but secretly hope she doesn’t make an offer as I can imagine this FTB being very tricky to deal with! Hopefully an offer from someone soon. If nothing else getting fed up of tidying the house every day and storing the laundry basket in my car!

Our house was never as tidy as when it was for sale. The noise from the rafters creaking with all the stuff ‘hidden’ in the loft was frightening too!

Yeah - a buyer who doesn't understand basic principles is to be avoided TMW. That's what happened with the first buyer for my flat - she cost me about £700 worrying about something that wasn't an issue at all, then she pulled out. (I lost approx £2,700 in total trying to sell my home and then get a new one, that doesn't take into account price rises due to the time taken to sell.)
I'm actually having a really difficult time at the moment. I'm an independent person but having to rely heavily on people at the moment. I'm living with friends and paying rent but I can tell they feel encroached on so I'm already looking at moving on - after 2 weeks! Rents are extortionate so I'm a bit stuck. A granny annexe would be the perfect solution while I search for land. No-one seems to rent these out tho'.

Well we have an offer from the lady who asked a lot of questions. We have rejected it as it’s too low. Still haven’t found anywhere that appeals much.

Offer raised to 5k below asking price, happy with that and mortgage secured.
Now we need to find somewhere we like. Trekking up to London for viewings every Saturday is getting a bit frustrating, though we do have an idea of where we want to be - an area called Crofton Park which is in SE London. Now to decide if we take a chance on something that needs a bit of work doing to it - this would get us the right size house we want.
