Sympathy with all involved in moving. We’re a year in our house but the run up to our pre-Christmas 2017 move was incredibly stressful

I’m two weeks in and getting unpacked slowly but very happily. My spare room looks like preparation for a jumble sale but I can watch the squirrels and birds in the garden while washing my dishes. I’ve still no word back from the buyer of my flat, initially he was meant to complete on 7th December but asked if he could extend to 11th or 18th of January! This is a pain since I had to get new unoccupied short term insurance for the flat, not easy to find!

Spoke to my lawyer this morning and date has been set at 18th January now I need to get the last few bits and bobs from the flat. And I noticed as I was brushing the leaves from the front of the house this morning that the big half barrel planter has shoots of something coming through 😀 I’m so looking forward to enjoying having a garden

My buyer has pulled out just a couple of days before signing the missive, marital problems apparently! So flat is back on the market and I’ve had one viewing earlier today and another tomorrow, fingers crossed.

House back on market yesterday, 4 viewings lined up on it next week, our ideal house in SE London has had its price massively dropped.
Could it all be coming together? Massive weekend of cleaning awaits!

Fingers crossed TMW it is such a stressful time. My second prospective buyer pulled out and so the flat was once again put on market. As of Thursday an offer has been passed to my lawyer so hopefully third time lucky.

Cheers Gus. I’ve just explained the moving process to my wife who grew up abroad and she is bemused, I gather the Scottish process is a bit more sensible though.
Our situation is challenging as we can only borrow up to 75% LTV due to various reasons, and only off a few lenders. Luckily we have a big deposit.

What’s happening with your move gus?
Our house has had 8 viewings so far this week, with 2 more, one of which is a second viewing scheduled tomorrow.
Sadly the dream house has had an offer accepted on it this morning so it looks like we may have run out of road. I haven’t told my wife yet who will be devastated, I am pretty annoyed myself. Her first time buying so struggling not to emotionally attached. There are other options in our price range in the area of London we like but none compare to the dream house which is near enough perfect.
I only hope it went for a price we couldn’t afford which would soften the blow a little. Always a chance it will fall through, given it has done once already, however I do know that the sellers are due to emigrate this month so may have taken any reasonable offer.

Offer is with the lawyers, it is a cash sale so need to wait on the source of the cash being proved before we go further. Hope you manage to find another dream house soon.

Well I've given up trying to buy. I lost over £2000 on a flat which fell through. Got right messed around by the owners' solicitors; who took ages to reply to my solicitors or didn't at all on some queries.
I'm fed up only having the choice of slum landlords' flats which have not been maintained properly at best with historical building regs issues sometimes on top. Enough now.
I'm trying to buy a small plot of land and put a micro home on it. I'm also a member of a tiny house community which has just set up, but I don't think they'll be up and running for another 2 years and my need is more immediate hence going it alone.
