Take your time, Muttley. The guy who does the Oxygen Addict podcast gives his athletes the rule that once you test negative AND feel OK give it another 2 days before you try a gentle training session.

Inadvertant 2km PB today, was 8:25 now 8:22. But to be fair and honest I wasn't trying to go 'fast', I was trying to go low spm.

@Nellers you did, after your comments on rowing form the other day, I was very irritated by someone trying to dig a hole in front of their knees with the handle

First gentle paddle post-covid tells me that my aerobic fitness has slipped somewhat. 5000m done at strict UT2, ie hr not allowed over 120 bpm. No ill effects other than a tickly throat and hacking cough, which by all accounts will probably hang around for a while yet. Nice to work up a sweat through activity instead of burning up with the lurgy. Pace was 2:30 vs 2:20 pre-covid. Interestingly, I used to find it hard to hold down to 18 spm but today it was no problem and at times I drifted to 17 or even 16. I'll be doing those Wolverine 2-hr 16 spm sessions in no time .... or maybe not I might try a gentle run-walk plod tomorrow but a bloke in running gear hacking up like an old tramp is not a great look. |

Glad you were able to row, mate, but don't push too hard. I've seen too many stories of long covid where people thought they were fine and just cracked on only for a "Revenge of Covid" relapse/ long-term issue to hit them. I went in the shed before work and did 3 x 15 min at r18, which was fine from a training point of view, less so from the -2C temperature in there when I got started! "Indoor Rowing" sounds so civilised but it needed a woolly hat, tights, thermals and 2 pairs of socks today! |

Glad you’re feeling better, Muttley. Sorry to be the voice of doom, but I’m going to second Nellers’ cautionary note. I lost most of last winter after getting Covid in autumn 2023 and having relapses every time I started training again. I ended up staying off the erg an extra fortnight after I felt OK to start up again to try to break the cycle. But hopefully you’ll bounce back a lot faster than I did! |
