:)
And some fruit cakes are enhanced by a slice of cheese too

The bran cake recipe is one I used to make using All-bran, I think the recipe was on the box. I also made it using mini-shredded wheat a couple of times and that worked ok too. Very adaptable and as LMH says, it can be made with all sorts of fruit in too.

Linds, that looks pretty good. I tens to save big fruit things for crimbo, but I am tempted.

Strudel, my new found ability to do flaky pastry means it is worth a go......I have the apples already.

It's not at all like a heavy fruit cake WS.

It really isn't. It's very light. More like a tea bread or similar.

I've not tried making crumpets, GG - I'll have to give them a go.
The bran cake brings back memories of my mum baking it with All Bran back in the '80s Linds!

I don't eat cheesecake very often as it tends to be too creamy and tasteless these days, but I found a recipe for lemon cheesecake and I made it last night. Too simple really and no gelatine, which I'm sure I used to use when I made it in 1982 (A level home economics). I wasn't convinced that the recipe was safe and expected the filling to collapse when I took it out of the tin...

It is lush. Sharp and creamy with plenty of flavour but not too sweet.
