Impressive HB!

I had to laugh a bit when I was looking for an apple cake recipe and found one called Dorset apple cake. It was a staple when I was growing up in Somerset as we had lots of apple trees but I thought it was just mum (born in Dorset) making it up to use apples, I had no idea it was a proper Thing. We had it as pudding after tea (never dinner & dessert); my brother used to smother it in treacle.

More bread here today (out of the oven half an hour ago, must resist cutting it just yet), maybe some cookies to use up sourdough starter which seems to be stubbornly refusing to do anything.

Living in Bedfordshire we were taught to make Dorset Apple Cake in home economics at school and it's been a family favourite for the past 30 odd years since then.

I've been making a new rye starter with flour (finally) obtained from H&B. I'm not sure I trust it. I hope H&B's rye flour is not as hopeless as their coconut flour is.

Today is sourdough day in our house. Glad I'm safely out of the way at work, the bloody thing was trying to escape most of yesterday!

I’m going to make something today. Either bread, or the courgette and feta scones

Now in the oven. Looking promising. Hope it will be cool enough to eat by the afternoon break.
