Very good FF. I popped out today, holiday next week. Thought I would get a score early. Same place, jig jog, added 3 sets of 60m strides, a middle bit was too fast, garmin has it 7.50!!, I was down at and struggled at the end.

8.48!

I think I still have a bit in hand if it was more even. Windy too.

Thanks Ocelot Spleens.

Pacing a mile I found very difficult which is why I started these virtual miles so I could practice the pacing tbh, however well done for your own mile today. Apparently practice makes perfect and I still need a lot more practice.

Fenland Flier yes, I only ever ran a mile twice when I was running well. My first go was quite good, a Sport Relief mile. The second I actually spent quite a few weeks trying to train for it, but got slower, all about pacing really.

Good morning virtual milers, I know how keen you are for these miles so I've added February 2025 to the race listing's. Some of us have managed to get a mile done already this month but there's always time for another go or to get your first attempt in. Very breezy here today but at least it's dry.

Evening all. I did my timed mile tonight at track. I've been getting a bit of pace back in the legs, and managed my quickest since I started doing them again.

Last year: June 7.27, July 7.17, Aug 7.23, Oct 7.14, Nov 7.08.....

Tonight 7.04. :-)

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
