Thanks fof the positive comments. A mile is so alien to me, a runner who basically ran on the fells or trail ultras. 've remembered the one bit of straightish and flat road in the area. An April attempt can now be sorted ;-)

I've found a nice mile long bit of uniterrupted path near my office I can use for my effort this month (probably the rest of the year). I'll need to be cautious of the wind, as it is quite exposed and depending on the direction I run, I could have a significant head or tail wind.

I have a tempo / interval loop I use and my mile will include head / back and side wind if it's windy. I chose this because the Jingle mile will always have wind at the track on one of the straights.

I have the prom, as long as it’s not too windy. Once my marathon is done and I’ve recovered I will do some speed work. My Garmin tells me I have an anaerobic deficit .. you don’t need to tell me, I know, I’m just doing slow stuff at the moment :)

I've got a mile on the trailway; dead straight, almost flat and no traffic to worry about. In general, its not affected by wind as it has trees either side.

Just found this thread and as I'm starting back again I think I'll have a go each month from now on. I just need to decide where I'm going to do it.

Hi FF, I have done it a few times in the past but I'm just starting back again, again.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
