Smout, just been reading about 'sharpening' and there appear to be at least two camps, one that suggest pmp runs for a fair distance, and the other that recommends quicker than pmp for shorter distances. I'm in the latter group, faster than pmp but not for any distance < 4 miles in distance terms.

I'm in the lazy camp all of my own probably! I'm planning some strides (haven't done many intervals so no bothering now), mibbe 6MP in a ten miler next week (over two weeks out) the rest of MP stuff be even shorter including Parkrun to try going from a start line at the right pace..
I think lol

Claire, to echo the others good running and yes add me to the heading please.
Last LSR done today, was mentally hard as it was a completely new route to me, running was fine though, 12 miles starting slow working up to 8 min/miles, 6 of those, then 2.5 miles steady at the end. Total 20.5 in 2.53, my fastest ever 20 mile training run at the end of my highest weekly mileage.
Now for the taper and some feet up time, in between "sharpening", another word to add to the running vocab

nice one MP. I am a real advocate for the progressive style long run after recent attemps at it. lets see how it translates into mara race performance
have added u to header and *ahem* also moved myself into it fron the longer term hopefuls well you've got to be in it right... i really think a good chunk of marathon performance is mental so having confidence and self belief needs to be a part of it for me anyway. i may not do it this time but provided all remains as is between now and the day, i am going to give it a go. i have some good HR data from training runs and races to use for comparison and so will use it on the day... (i reserve the right to delete my name again nearer the time as taper madness sets in!!)
