Well done @auburnette! Sounds like you had a pretty good idea of what sort of pace you could realistically sustain.

So here we are, at the end of the 2024 looking back at what has been achieved by the occupiers of this thread. Before I touch on the rest, let us not forget the loss of @Oscar the Grouch way back at the early stages of 2024. Thinking of his family and friends as we come up to Christmas, very sad for all concerned, no doubt. ☹ In terms of racing, attempts and all-round effort, all in all, a successful year was had with both @SailorSteve and @auburnette, netting two sub 3:30’s apiece. Not too shabby an effort by either. Sorry for Steve to be finishing the year injured and I’m sure you’ll come back strong in 2025 but wow, what a great PB for aurburnette to close us out. A bit of an arse for @riggys99 getting injured so close to the end of the year and having to pull up in his attempt. You'll come back stronger for next year's Yorkshire Marathon bash, no doubt. Nice to see @tipsku smashing Leipzig and @MissingPhoenix not "missing" out on Chester, well done both. I had a better-than-expected result in Christchurch earlier in the year, too. It's been enjoyable to watch, listen and learn from the thread and long may it continue into the New Year. Don’t forget to drop a message if you want a race adding and feel free to openly discuss the good, the bad, the ugly from your training etc. We are all here to learn, grow and support each other through the thick and thin of running marathons. And remember, we are part of the 0.01% club (% of the world’s population who have run a marathon). Now imagine just how special you are to have run one in under 3:30. I did try to find that % figure but couldn’t. That’s just how special you are. Be proud. |
