Great summery of the past year @Mark J 🇳🇿 and lovely words about Oscar the Grouch.

Well done to all those that smashed their goals this year.

As one who didn’t I feel the pain (literally in my Achilles 😁) of those that didn’t this year.

Let’s go smash 2025.

Keep on running folks

Nice summary Mark. I think of Oscar a lot.

Still well and truly on the bench here. Into my 4th week of no running and my Achilles are still sore and ham/glute is still grumbling. Any “fast walking” causes a flare up. I’ve spent a small fortune on therapy.

Part of me wants to “run through the pain” before my ‘stubborn muscle’ goes soft; part of me wants to believe that “one more week” without running is the answer.

The reality is, some bad things just last longer than we want or can conceivably imagine. I’ve found this out in the context of seriously heavy weather at sea. Being around and in good shape at the end of the storm takes skill, experience, resilience and luck.

Probably should have been a blog or stayed in my head!

Happy running all👊

Cheers, all. I'm thinking I should probably remove me from the side bar and move those to the "other" thread as, on current form at least, I should be expecting sub 3:15's for both attempts up there. Maybe I'll see how the training goes in the New Year, once I've had a summer break from intense training blocks.

Always happy to continue being the thread admin though.

Thank you for the summary of 2024, @Mark J 🇳🇿 and congratulations to all who ran a marathon this year. Getting through training uninjured and making it to the start line healthy is an achievement on its own. The icing on the cake is getting your goal time.

I'm still in rebuilding mode, currently hampered by an angry hip flexor. I can run but it limits my stride length and the overall volume of my training. I can run fast but only I small doses and I have to make sure to keep my easy runs really easy.

I'm tentatively in for Leipzig next year, 13 April 2025. Until the end of January, I'll focus on 10k training to get my speed back and to do more strength training to stabilise my hips. After that, I'm going to ramp up training for the marathon. If I can't handle the volume, I'll probably drop to the half instead.

I am finding out that the Achilles is a tough nut to fix @SailorSteve by itself so sympathy to you with your other injuries on top.

Keep your races on here it’s still sub 3:30 @Mark J 🇳🇿 and your input is appreciated.

Hope the rebuilding keeps on track and you can run the marathon in April @tipsku. If not an April half is a good building block to a later marathon.

Still not running but doing plenty of exercise on the Achilles but not got to the exercises I want to be able to do with no problems before I can run. Probably put myself back a couple of weeks by trying the maravan. Never mind

I was thrown out of the 3:15 sidebar when I managed to run 16 minutes under 3:15 by the 3:15 thread admin.
I tried begging and flattering but to no avail...

Looking at you WW !
