Welcome along @Big_G. You're very welcome to lurk and post at will no matter where you are at. And if we can help in anyway just ask. Like you, I find that as long as I remain consistent, every now and again I get an unexpected boost in pace at the same HR. Now I'm scared to stop just in case I lose it π

Sorry to hear @riggys99 but best not to have any pressure to build back too quickly. Fingers crossed it starts improving soon. Hello to Big G and xt350! Some amazing performances from you recently @Mark J π³πΏ , those times and WAVAs are no joke! I have a vague goal to get to 80% WAVA but I'm quite a way off it at the moment. |

Cheers @auburnette definitely my most successful year of running ever. Not sure I can top much of it to be honest.

@Big_G running easy all the time and still getting faster is nothing new. Ask Maffetone.

Charles, yeah, I know - definitely nothing new. All the current trends of Zone 2, threshold etc has been done many years ago. Just saying itβs what worked for me. Over Covid, from around May 2020, I switched to low HR and together with no races to disrupt training, I was able to get PBs late 2021 and early 2022. It just took quite a long time to see the gains and I nearly threw the towel in with it, but Iβm glad I preserved, and due to the covid pause it was something that kept me occupied. Iβve been running about 20 years, and wish Iβd switched to it before. I did do a small number of sessions in the lead up to Seville 2022 - I remember doing something like 14 miles with 8 at MP, and that 8 ended up being my average MP at the race, although at the time I thought Iβd done the session marginally too quick. But I also did 4 marathons across the Xmas and New Year 2021 periodβ¦so I donβt really follow a plan as such! Anyway, over in Netherlands now for Xmas, travelling yesterday from Devon, via Harwich, night ferry to Hook of Holland, and this morning over to Zwolle. A couple of parkruns planned but also plenty of flat routes around here, to hopefully keep the mileage ticking over. |
