Sorry to hear about the niggles also. Not sub-3:15, but sub-5 for me on Sunday…..which I was happy with! A trail marathon, 6 laps, with 4800ft of elevation. First 4.5 laps went well, 5th lap was slower, and then 6th was slower again, but I did actually enjoy it….mostly! I’ve managed decent mileage for me (46, 47, 32, 52, 53, 56, 56), mainly at a steady effort for me, over the last few weeks. Recovery week this week and then hoping to pick it back up again next week, but we shall see. |

I wish joy to our fit brothers and sisters, and fortitude to those on the niggle register or injury bench. I place myself still in the latter categories. My current Tanda prediction is 4+ I can kid myself between 3-8 miles that I’m heading in the right direction, “only” the stubborn right achilles to get into ‘proper’ shape; but then anything over an hour/double figures and the full ham/glute/piriformis/achilles pain orchestra wakes up. Excuse the clumsy metaphor. An orchestra tuning up is often shocking, chaotic and nothing like the music that comes after it. The frisson of anticipation, as the echo of the discordant cacophony fades is exciting, and then as the first harmonious notes emerge, delight, maybe ecstasy; the whole experience can be intoxicating. I’m not giving up on the possibility of getting a tune out of my legs just yet. A goal isn’t a gimme. We all know that that’s precisely the point. If I was to be able to turn things around, intoxication awaits. |

Good use of metaphors. I wish you well for recovery in the build up.

Nicely put @SailorSteve In a fit of optimism this evening I transferred my entry from an early April HM to the Tissington Marathon at the end of April. Can drive from home so no accommodation cost and can transfer to a half that runs along side the full. Not changing much in training at moment. Gradual increases the plan. Please put me on the side bar again 😁 Tissington trail marathon 27 April |

Good to see you back in the side bar, @riggys99 and here's to a successful training block I loved the use of musical metaphors, @SailorSteve When I struggled with my hip, I definitely felt that it was out of tune with the rest of the orchestra. Your plan sounds great, @auburnette and you have been progressing nicely over the past 12 months. That's also my plan for this block, getting into the low-mid-60s for Leipzig. I adapted the P&D 12w 55-70 mpw slightly to work for me. After following the 35-55 plan loosely for 2 years, I felt that it was time to step up. In the last two blocks, I averaged 46.5 mi and 52 mi so I feel I can step up a bit. What I have planned so far for the 12 weeks would average about 57 mpw which I hope will be manageable even with potentially a new job on the horizon. If not, I'll reduce it a little bit but keep the important sessions in like the MP and threshold work. |

Really glad to hear good news @riggys99 , here's hoping that's the last Achilles grumble for a while! Training sounds great @tipsku . Averaging 57 will be really solid and should definitely give you a boost. I've been doing a bit more VO2 than I would usually as have had one foot on the 5k train. Managed to get sub 21 by quite a way (20:27) so now of course I am eyeing 20. Have been doing my vo2 intervals at that pace and managed 4 x 1600 and 1 x 1200 off 90 at 20 min 5k pace, my other half reckons this means i can already do it but not quite convinced. I recover very quickly if there's any rest at all but stringing it together can be tricky. My base is pretty good for this point in the training so I'm trying to create a bit more space between my 5k and 10k paces and my target marathon pace. That's very solid mileage @Big_G, esp with the trail marathon and all the elevation in there too. @SailorSteve keep the dream alive for a harmonious symphony at London! |

@auburnette Thanks not too bad slowly building up 8mm in training sessions is a stretch. So maybe sub 3.30 is a bit much. But I’m sticking to the plan feel stronger |
