Yeah agreed. I like it but generally tweak it a bit.

I started with the P&D 18/55, had to pause it due to illness. Now I'm in week 1 of the 12 week programme. I hope it works out for me. I'm about to go out for the first LR with MP miles. It's windy and rainy outside, wish me luck :)

I'm also blogging about my last stint with the P&D which resulted in a sub 3:30 last year and how I tweaked it. It's a great base to work with but I don't follow it religiously.

Hi all, good to see thread coming to life. Please could somebody take over as admin on this one as I just don't have time to contribute and get involved these days - thank you ๐Ÿ˜€

I edit p&D loads, I just try and stick to the core sessions and do at least as many long runs as he recommends. In order of how I prioritise the importance of the components and therefore how willing I am to substitute/amend them:

1. The long runs (inc the ones which contain quality) - I'll definitely do as many as he recommends, but would tweak the quality components if my legs need more recovery
2. The longer threshold workouts - will try not to miss any of these tbh, they are important.
3. The medium long runs - may tweak the distance by a mile or two
4. The easy miles of varying length - this is 80% of the running, but beyond making sure I'm broadly doing that, I don't get caught up on doing exactly what the plan recommends
5. The vo2 max workouts - as long as I do a few harder bits of running I'm not that bothered on sticking to what he prescribes.

6. The practice races - I'll only do them if it's convenient
7. Short recovery runs - recovery is important but I'll just take a rest day if I have to and not worry too much about ticking these off.

I also try to make sure I don't have my long run and session too close together but sometimes life intervenes!
