Chrisull, thanks, I hope to be there. I was really looking forward to it but I haven't had a great 2-3 weeks due to a foot niggle. I am hoping to try a run tomorrow but I will decide whether I am doing the race on the weekend. Fingers crossed I will be there

I did a 'test run' yesterday and the foot seemed okay. No more of the stabbing pain, which is what I was a bit worried about, and instead just a very minor dull ache. I have promised myself not to run today, but will run tomorrow (Friday), I won't run Saturday, and then just see how I feel on Sunday. When I entered the event about 3 weeks ago I was hoping for a decent run out on Sunday, but we will have to see how it all goes as I really haven't done much running at all the last 3 weeks, although I have been doing a decent amount of cycling (on Zwift). I am still a decent weight, so that is good!

Fingers crossed then. Just do an easy or progressive run if it's a possible issue? I'm still getting back to fitness, my Duchy 20 run was 2.46.34, my pb there is 2.27.03, but I'm not sweating it, it will be a steady run aiming under 2.45, closer to 2.40 if poss, will see it goes.

Tried to give it full beams at parkrun this morning instead of the 8k-10k race as scheduled in P&D. A bit disappointed with 19:36 which is probably just me being harsh on myself but did hope I'd at least be able to sneak under 19:20. Probably picked the wrong course for it though. 2 weeks to go anyway, and the main challenge looks like being avoiding COVID...

Looks solid enough to me Larks. Got yourself in decent shape to have a crack at it.

19.36 was exactly the same time as my parkrun back in September. I'd probably be slower now😱 I'd actually have to look back my fetch log to check when I last raced on roads, it'll be a few years ago I reckon.
Anyway, got solid time there larks!

Shame I was timekeeper today as it was a quick day. First two finished in 14:47
I have decided that due to the new arrangements and early start tomorrow it’s too much to ask my parents and so skipping Alloa half. Might do some tempo miles in my long run instead

Sorry to hear you weren't able to mix it up with the 14 47 guys baz 😉
I've plenty others to abuse, I mean encourage tomorrow on menstrie brae when the legs are about hanging off. Enjoy the tempo miles, I'm planning a run in the hills before the race starts.

I felt suitably encouraged, rather than abused, by the Douglas clan this morning. Considering how comfortable I felt at the end, maybe I should’ve had someone yelling at me for not pushing hard enough.
I’m looking at a 3:30 target for my next marathon (Manchester was 3:41 last autumn), so I just wanted to run comfortably within that pace at todays Half. Garmin read 1:37:39 as I crossed the line, and I never felt close to the edge at any point in the race, so I could’ve put myself in the pain zone if I’d had a more stretching target in mind for today. It was my slowest Half to date, but I kind of consider all my PBs to have been reset in 2019 so there’s no regrets there. Anything under 1:45 was always going be fine for today.
The Fetch calculator suggests that a 1:37:39 Half would convert to a 3:40:56 Marathon, but I really didn’t attempt to rinse myself today and reckon 3:30 remains a sensible stretch target for the Marathon for now. Time will tell!
