Surprised myself with a 1:28:30 at Alloa in perfect conditions. Had an optimistic 1:30 in mind so no complaints. That’s a full 5 mins off a PB but I’m probably a stone over ‘racing’ weight and that certainly showed over the hills!

Great running both of you
Quite glad I missed alloa. I did eight tempo miles within todays 15 but wouldn’t have troubled 90 minutes.
I need to try and do something to shake up my training.

Maybe time to dig out the P&L faster road racing books or something like that Baz just to mix things up a bit? Probably as much about instilling some confidence in you by the sounds of things.
Just had a quick look at the Tanda calculator on Fetch. I know it's only one metric, but I've turned out pretty consistently with it in the past.
Chester 2017 - predicted 3:14:09 actual 3:14:29 Chester 2021 - predicted 3:51:02 actual 3:53:44 Manchester 2022 - predicted 3:11:46 actual TBC
I'd take that as an outcome if I could bank it now, so it looks as sensible as any pace to aim for from the gun.

Fleet HM for me today. I’ve done a HM a month for the last 3 and gone 84:21, 83:09 and now 81:50.
Beautiful conditions but a decent run. I was genuinely not sure I’d get back down to these kind of paces post COVID and now it’s tempting to enter an Autumn mara.
There is something really nice about running no further than 100 mins in training though….we’ll see!

Mancs is probably a bit flatter and faster than Chester. There will be a lot of people running around that pace too (including pacer bunches I guess, you may prefer to avoid them).

I love Tanda ❤️!!
Baz - how about trying to up the pace a bit on some of the longer runs you’re doing? The aerobic stuff must surely be banked with all that 9 min/mile stuff, isn’t it?

Oh that's a good one WW, not quite your best but you're in the right ballpark.

Well done all.
I was at the Granite Way 20, a pleasing and strong opening 18 miles, undermined by a not disastrous, but weak last two miles as dizziness and quad pains saw me unable to take advantage of a downhill finish. A minute quicker than Duchy 20, two weeks ago, so 8.16 pace up from the Duchy's 8.20, in theory flatter although the 833 feet on strava indicated that despite being a former railway track it is distinctly undulating.
My theory on my last 2 mile collapse (from 8.20 to 9.10 pace), which came out of the blue, was that I pushed to hard on the mile long rise on mile 16, put my heartrate too close to max, and then couldn't recover from it. I felt good at 15 and ready to step it up at the end. I do prefer proper hilly courses, the courses that demand constant effort don't totally suit me. But 21st place was ok in scheme of things, and a useful gauge of what needs to happen next. Weight loss. More running.

WW that was the aim today. With 3x2and 2x1 miles. The miles either side all a bit faster than normal as well.
