Thanks everyone. I’m really pleased with how it went. At one point I felt 3:05 was on, but it slipped away so maybe that’s my next target - whether it’ll be at Manchester or not I’m not sure.

Great running BigG, sounds like you paced it really well and managed your energy well to the end!

Sub 3:05 looks an excellent next target and wouldn't be surprised if you were a chunk under that.

Congrats Big_G. That looks a really well-run race to me.

If you're someone who is into analysis of training paces and efforts, and conversion in to race times - then don't forget to update your method to take account of this (basically you went a bit faster than expected). A confidence boost, for sure.

And how was this not on the sidebar?!? The admin here is a joke ;-)

Daz, tapas won, and sleep came later :)

ptb, I was a fairly late entry, only getting a place on 31st Jan, and then booking flights that day. I did have a refundable hotel booked though, just in case. It was either Seville or Goodwood, so I’m glad I got a place in Seville, as Goodwood looked to be fairly windy the week before! Yeah, everything just came together for me yesterday - doesn’t happen very often!

Top effort BigG - and as others have said more to come this year!

Another glimmer of HR pointing in the right direction this morning as I swapped the coming weekend's long run to today. Unsurprisingly training works and makes you fitter; who knew, eh?

Well done on the pb Big_G - looks like it was a really positive experience. The confidence you'll take into the next race will help push for that next goal.
I'm still stuttering away with training with no real consistency and a few treadmill runs when I'd otherwise just not run.
I see the Stirling marathon is the Scottish marathon champs this year so although they've been quiet, I expect it'll go ahead!

10 miles this morning and it was a bit dispiriting. Legs felt tired and I walked up a few of the hills. I am trying to lose a little bit of weight (5kgs before race day would be great) and I don't think I have the balance right between a slight calorie deficit and fuelling for runs. So far I have only lost 1 kg in over a month so a bit annoying that I am feeling fatigued at this stage of training.
