He's my husband yes.

I used to be a runner, I know how to train, the problem is my terminally broken foot won't let me! At this time of year I definitely don't really have time for any proper speedwork as it's bike race season, and that's my sport now.

Everytime I feel I'm getting somewhere (I did a 5k and 10k PB in Jan) my foot just gives out again. It's frustrating as hell for sure, but I'm not supposed to be able to run on the mess that it is at all, so I'm grateful for anything to be honest. I'm still determined to chip away at this though.

I like to see what you're all doing though :) I can try and do the occasional session sometimes, they'll all help :) :)

I was given some heart of ever achieving this as I did 22 min PR first time in a few years and not far off a flat/tarmac 21.

The hard bit will be shifting this last few pounds and getting under that 21 mins.

But first a few more miles ;-)

gf - sounds like you need to put down a marker, see exactly how fast you are atm, even the 5k is over 95% aerobic and you obviously have that side sorted. If you can knock out 21.xx (albeit on a treadmill) I think you must be 20.xx in a race scenario. Are any surfaces better for the foot, or is it just the act of running that causes problems?

I do chrisull. I have entered a 5 mile race next sat, obv not 5k but can see where I'm at.... It's so hard to know as I've not been running till the last 3 weeks or so.

Tarmac is a million times better for foot, I don't run off road at all now really..... (I know it's usually other way round!) a trail/towpath is fine but no grass/mud etc

Another (my 2nd) sub 20 at Serpentine RC's last Friday 5K today. 7 seconds away from a PB but I'm just happy to be under 20. Would be good for this to be a regular occurrence.

18:57 last Saturday but the two hard efforts at 5k have caused a bit of a tight right hamstring so no parkrun tomorrow morning.
