I've noticed those Battersea races. May do one this year.

Hi Uyuni, yes I've heard Bromley is quick so will maybe give this one a go.

Cam - recommend the Battersea Park races. Battersea Park is probably the flattest 5K out there so great potential for a quick time and you can enter on the night. Only costs a few quid. There also the Brooks Last Friday of the Month 5K (held at lunchtime) held in Hyde Park which is quick though I think a little more undulating than Battersea Park.

Huntsman - my mileage until recently was only in the region of 20-25 miles per week. Over the past 8 weeks or so I've increased this and now doing between 30 & 35 miles per week. I've noticed that I seem to handle interval sessions a lot better now. In the past especially when doing for example 1K repeats I tended to struggle in the latter stages but now can handle these much better.

Will have a go soon and let you know how I get on.

I think trying to predict a 5k time off a mile race is tough, but I'd be confident 5:44 goes sub 20. And probably fairly comfortably at that. At a rough guess I'd say +30s/mile?

Cheers Geoff. The Last Friday is my regular 5K hot spot. I would describe the course as rolling; the slopes take it out of you slightly which is why Battersea interests me. Thanks for the recommendation.

19:05 at my local parkrun this morning. It's not the fastest course so hope to nip under 19 next time

18:43 at Bromley :-) I knew it was a quick course after running it last year but that seems ridiculous. My watch had it at 3.03 but it went wappy a couple of times in the trees and other folk had it 3.1 so I'll take it and try and match it somewhere else
