Not sure if I've posted here before but I'm a sub-20 wannabee. An 8kg weight loss over the last 4 months is giving me hope. Ran the Serpentine 5k yesterday in 20:30, my fastest time for nearly three years and only 5 secs from a PB. Looking forward to next months race where hopfully the remnants of recent lurgy have gone and I'll have a couple of speed sessions in my legs after recovering from the Snowdonia marathon.

Its not a flat course that either so well done Shortcut!

Isn't December on course B due to winter wonderland?

I'll probably do the New Years day 10k (although its never a pb) as its a nice venue to run around in winter. Summer there is too much pollen for me.

Friday's race was on the winter route. I reckon it's slightly tougher than the regular route around the lake, maybe costing 10-20 secs due to the long slow drag up north carriageway drive - twice! I'm still toying with the idea of the New Year's Day 10k as I've a good chance of a pb.

Its a good race, the late start means most of hangover gone. I do tend to find it not a pb course, but a nice way to start the year (always a seasons best after all ;))

I held a pb on the course that lasted 6 months. Thinking back I believe that race in 2010 would still be my pb if they had chip timing mats at the start rather than gun start with timing mats only at the finish! If the wind picks up I can see that having an effect on times and hence not a pb course.

20:17 at today's Serpentine 5k. A new PB, 9 secs faster than my April 2010 time. 13 secs faster than 3 weeks ago so role on the January race on the flatter route.

Well done Cam :)

I tried and failed today to rejoin the sub-20 club. Had thought it would be achievable after a 10k last weekend with 5k splits of 20:20 and 20:22. But my head / heart wasn't in it and when it got a bit windy and felt hard I gave up. Just cba. Hey ho. I'll get back there in 2016 and it was still a seasons best for 2015 by some way.

Yeah well done Clare on that 10K time; really impressive. I think my 5K time equtes to around 42 minutes for 10K. Serpentine RC has a 10K on New Years Day which I nearly entered (current 10k PB is 42:55) but I really just can't face trashing my feet again so soon. Yesteday's race took a lot out of me. I now realise the true physical and mental effort that is required to break 20 minutes.
