Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I hadn’t looked at my WAVA scores that closely until just. My best seems to be for my 5k races a few years back. Perhaps I’m targeting the wrong distance. 😜

I found when I started running at 40 I had no bottom end speed and there was very little difference in my pace from 10K up to about 15 miles. I’m a diesel basically. I never did a 5K until my first Parkrun in (from memory) 2013 so don’t know what I might have been able to have done with some specific training when I did road my road running PBs c 2007. I’ve no interest in WAVA because it’s pretty irrelevant for the off-road stuff I like to do

strava just told me I’ve done 20 hrs of ‘activity’ since November 2 and I’ve some kind of voucher towards kit I don’t need or want. I’m quite chuffed though because the 20 hours includes (I think anyone) nine sessions of cross-training

That sub 30 thing (last words!) - you have to want it, obvs! If it's not important to you - like Rae for instance - then who gives a fuck?

But the thing that annoys me is the c25k timings assume you will do sub 30
So if you are larger for example you may happily be thinking you are doing 5k then turn up at say race for life and suffer

I may be somewhat in the minority around here as I'm not A Runner - just someone who runs a bit as part of other things - so getting 'better' at running only really interests me to the extent it helps with the other things.

Just proves different distances suit different people, and that we tend to concentrate on one distance (or set of distances) more than others.

I honestly believed that I was an endurance sort of person when I first started running. Thought I would be good at marathons because I am quite determined and can keep going when bored. HA to that!
