I did day 14 of Iron yesterday - just shoulders - really enjoyed that one though my weights were way less than hers.

No time today but day 15 is hamstrings I think - I will give it a go tomorrow. I'm working round a return to running, too, so not going super-hard on the leg days.

Massive fail. I decided to do a round 2 of Iron:

I enjoyed round 1, despite not saying it at the time

1/2hr feels achievable - Epic is upward to 1hr and I’m less likely to do it

Epic has way more core work which I can’t do (discomfort)

I’ll try to keep updating & supporting.

I did an Epic (no equipment) session a few days ago, way too hard for me and it set my back off again, took a few days to recover from that.

Went to the Range this week and picked up another set of dumbbells, only 4kg, but heavy enough for me doing CG's session with the number of reps.

We’re away for a week so no iron sessions this week but walking in Edinburgh (hills!) and kayaking, SUPing and axe throwing have been done, more SUPing and a parkrun to come tomorrow.

Iron D1 R2 done o found it so much better than first time round my lunges and squats are smooth and knee to floor I used 6kg could probably have gone higher and used a 20kg bag for RDL’s

I was a sweaty mess by the end and had a hang on the bars at the end too (no change of a pull up but who knows I may manage it one day)

Really enjoyed that and I’d rather enjoy and work hard than doing epic which I wasn’t enjoying sounds same for you shades.

Sounds fantastic Elsie!

30 mins is enough for me - easy to fit into my day and I can only book the gym for an hour at a time, so 60 mins wouldn't be possible and 45 mins could be tricky if I don't get there bang on time.

@geordiegirl that's exactly what I said yesterday I was just doing epic heat and fuel just to say I'd finished it. I didn't finish fuel. Well done with the 6kg. I'm up to 5kg on iron which is more than my first round. 💪

Have FINALLY finished Iron Round 2. As I wrote in my blog just now 'I wanted to finish the series faster than last time but after a stonking two or three weeks where I did exactly as she does -five workouts a week, summer special dance intensives left me far too tired to carry on with that. So I've slowed considerably and it's taken a fortnight or more to do the last four workouts. I have though, and I'm pleased to have done so. I know I'm stronger than I was back in March when I started the w/os for the first time.'

What I'm pleased about is that I now use 2 x6, 2 x 8 or 2 x 10kg for most of the exercises whihc I think is not bad for a 51kg (just over 8stone) 71 year old woman.

I still can't really shoulder press more than 2 x 5kg for more than just one set of reps though.

About This Thread

Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
