I've spoken to him over lunch time and him and one of his flatmates are working together in the kitchen to get the assignments done. His flatmate is behind as well. Another flatmate has been tasked with 'slapping them on the head' if they get distracted. When he answered his phone they all yelled 'hello Mum' in the background Hopefully just a storm in a teacup.

Hope so. Not what you need, though.

That sounds better HP.
If he can let his personal tutor know he's getting behind and overwhelmed they should be able to do several things to help. Mine did, although I needed to press to get some things done. for his flatmates

That sounds much better HP. I’m sure the tutors are used to dealing with things like this in the first term, never mind add a pandemic into the mix.

What do we think of the news that GCSE’s and A Levels have been cancelled in Wales? Can we expect England to follow suit? My Y11 daughter is due to sit mocks in January and is quite thrown with the uncertainty over whether exams will even take place and in what form - she says her Spanish teacher hates everyone, so is dreading if it comes to teacher assessment 😉. I’ve been drilling it into her that effort needs to be 100% in all class and homework and not to rely on a polished performance just in case, but even I couldn’t maintain that, it would be exhausting. Poor kids. And teachers.

Ds2 did mocks before half term even though they hadn’t been taught a chunk of stuff, so hopefully they won’t determine grades. I think school were spooked by the thought of the year 11 bubble bursting so got mocks in early. There’s too much uncertainty to know what will happen, other than the English will do their usual best to fuck up things and communicate as badly as possible. Based on recent past performance...

I'm surprised they've made the decision this early, but there's no doubt teaching will continue to be disrupted for the next few months.

Good for Wales making an early decision so the kids know what to focus on. If Scotland follow suit I expect England will too, but they’ll delay for ages.

Ds1 rang me for laundry advice earlier lol I told him not to wash anything woollen but otherwise it’s difficult to have too many disasters
