Cheekys Dad
Cheeky has his A levels in the summer so will be doing these classroom assessments. Not entirely unexpected that the exams are cancelled and good to have an early decision. They could do with some certainty in their lives. That said it’s not yet entirely clear what it will mean exactly “Externally set & marked assessments “ still sounds a lot like exams - they’ve just got more flexibility over when they are sat (and maybe they will be slightly less formal so possibly less pressured). One would think all the nations may eventually have to follow suit as they did this year. How else can universities, colleges or employers make comparisons? I’d love to be more optimistic but suspect there’s more chaos and heartache to come

This is the gift that keeps on giving isn’t it?

Boy is awaiting flatmate’s test result. Test done Monday.

Have you all seen the story about travel plans for students?

It makes sense, though ds1 was due to come home on the 4th anyway and he already gets weekly testing with his bubble. Plus 4 of 6 of his bubble have now had covid so the chances of him getting it are minuscule. He’d be more likely to catch it from his brother when he comes home than spread it to us

Yes. I'm wondering how it will impact T1's plan - her friend in the Navy is stationed at Culdrose and coming home for Christmas. He's picking her up on his way through but that will be on the 14th. I hope travel won't be stopped outside those dates in the article. I miss my fluffy :(

IF it's private car travel I don't think it will be stopped.

Hope test for Youngest's flatmate is negative, Katie.

School just called. I have to go and see head because LittleD sent out of maths. It makes me so livid that they just expect me to drop everything. I feel like I am the one being punished. ffs.

Can’t they make an appointment for you when it suits both you and the head? I mean...some jobs you couldn’t just leave and it’s really not convenient for you even though you can.

Exactly. They have a policy that the child is not allowed back in class until the parent attends, or at least until a meeting is set up, I believe. I think that perhaps for some children, the fact that the parent has been summoned leads to further sanctions at home. That's not the case for us. It actually undermines the little respect I have for their processes.
