Does it have to be sports related volunteering? If not, what about a local food bank?

Fleecy, is Scouts or cubs on in any way? They might plan to restart from December and could be looking for help. DD1 was doing bronze and volunteering at Brownies but the group just folded

We briefly restarted face-to-face meetings at cubs (half of them one week, half the other) in October, and then went back to zoom in November as per Scout Association guidelines. Trying to do mostly outdoors activities, which isn't always easy in winter. We can always use a couple of D of E volunteers, so I'd expect other cubs & beavers groups are the same.

Also, local nature reserves or wildlife trusts nearly always have volunteer work parties, who typically do a couple of hours on a Sunday through the winter (once or twice a month). If he doesn't mind doing a bit of physical outdoors work, that might be possible.

Mine did volunteering with scouts and also with their cycling club - helping with sessions for younger riders. British Cycling have a 'young volunteers' scheme, might be worth exploring if tennis offers anything similar.

Fleecy- Marigold wrote letters to family members who are on their own. About 2 letters a week.
You could always try charities like stroke association or Age UK and ask about befriending services.

Another vote for cubs/beavers. Our groups are on Zoom now but will be back in the hall in bubbles as soon as it's allowed.
As for Billy's college, they told the two people in his group who had had contact with the positive person to isolate for two weeks, and have told Billy he can work online for two weeks if he wishes, which he does.

my boys went straight to silver. Daughter did bronze and then will do gold, but the volunteering is difficult, she was volunteering in a charity shop but that has closed. My friend who is a DofE assessor says they are accepting much more imaginative ideas for DofE at the moment

My lad did volunteering with Boys Brigade. He didn’t actually complete his D of E but that bit of it was really good for him. He helped with the Anchor Boys, 5-8 year olds, some quite challenging.
Sorry to change the subject....but someone on here was talking about Uni students having tests 5 days apart then heading home....which uni was that please?
