PK. That sounds exactly like my son at aged 8 (yr3). He had so much pent up inside him, he would just lose control. Being strict with him was just pointless. The school arranged some play therapy sessions for him which were brilliant and helped him so much. Hope you can get some help.

Thanks TeeBee.

We're working through it just now, and the next step will be to involve the school, I think. We'll see what comes out of that.

Thanks all, and thanks in particular Lorraine.

School just called. She has been sent out of German - she has already told me some things about the German teacher so I'm not surprised they have clashed. Apparently in year 9 and above, when they get sent out of class, they are excluded from ALL LESSONS until a meeting can be arranged with the parents. WTAF? I cannot see the point in that, and said as much to the teacher. SHe said she's the inclusion manager and is trying to get kids back into lessons but 'has to work within the head's rules'. I am livid. I don't know what happened, and of course LIttleD has probably behaved badly, but all lessons? I cannot see the point of that. Can anyone in education help me to do that? I *can* go into school first thing Monday, but there will be times when I cannot drop everything and go. OH works away for a couple of days most weeks so he wouldn't be able to either. There may also be times when I cannot take telephone calls from the school and therefore cannot even arrange to go in at the earliest possible opportunity.

And great that after a meeting yesterday where the news about her behaviour was the only positive thing, now we're on this merry-go-round again. FFS.

I don’t even know where to begin with that Linds. I’m not familiar with legislation and policy south of the border but up here that kind of practice would be considered highly inappropriate. Does the school/LA have an exclusion policy?

I did say to the teacher that I had never heard of that and she said she would ask the Head of Year to send it out. I haven't seen anything in the documents we have been sent. I'll find out what they have.

Code of Conduct

"...behaviour which is rude or discourteous, or fails to recognise the authority of staff....."

"Breaking the conduct will usually result in a fixed term exclusion"

This is worse than my school in the 1980s.

Just to be clear, I don't think the teacher was excluding her from the premises, but I think she would be given work to do in some separate room.

That's really useful, Switts. Thanks. I know she's cheeky and articulate and doesn't know when to keep quiet, but really?
