Morning all.
The boy didn't get the grades he was hoping for - so there was quite a bit of disappointment initially. But he's been accepted by his backup choice (Sheffield Hallam) so he still gets to go to Sheffield, and still gets to study journalism. His mum, me and Katie hopefully helped get him through that initial sting, and by the end of our time together, I think he was doing ok (and even talking with some excitement about his accommodation options). Haven't checked in with him yet this morning, but had a message from him in the middle of the night from Rock City in Nottingham, which he said was absolutely rammed. I think he'll be fine
Glad to hear all our teens have found a way forward on their journeys.

A bit up and down I think, but I'm sure he'll be ok. Amongst other things, I've pointed out that Tim Cook went to the #93 ranked university and became CEO of Apple; whilst Liz Truss went to Oxford and f**ked an entire country

Thursday night in the Leadmill used to be 60’s and 70’s night. I regularly didn’t make 9am lectures on a Friday……

Loved being in Sheffield for a year, it's a great place.
Fingers crossed for LittleD's accommodation, Linds - it's great that she's decided to try university.

Glad boy got sorted Fetch. With 82% getting accepted by first choice unis, it definitely felt "odd" being on the 18% trying to get sorted yesterday. Our son had already predicted doom and gloom with the grades vs what school had predicted at UCAS form stage; they probably over-egged it a bit, and (IMHO) he didn't knuckle down enough, but he also filled himself with lower ambitions and a bit of defeatism so it was no surprise to him that he didn't get accepted by 1st or 2nd choice.
Bit of a different scenario to last time around when our first son found out at about 7am on results day that his first choice had been confirmed (before UCAS opened) as they emailed him directly, which meant arriving at school and getting the grades (which were actually a fair bit lower than his first choice offer had asked for) was a bit of an anticlimax. This time no early email, then UCAS saying "you're in clearing" meant it was hard to celebrate, even if the son involved was perfectly happy with the outcome!!
I'm now looking forward to end of term pick-ups on a Saturday where I can "coincidentally" stop off at parkruns on the way down (and pick up some in Cardiff too!)
