And congrats to Mrs Larkim on her sub 4, too. I thought I had said that before but apparently, I hadn't.

Thank you Vrap and tipsku The underpasses do definitely take it out of you tipsku, my quads were on fire for three or four days afterwards. I can never quite decide if the ups are the hard bit or the downs are. |

Er, I meant to write more than that! Intended message was congrats theOtherRichard and glad your tapering and missing the WSW final paid off! Also congrats to Mrs Larkim. Last year I joined this thread with the aim of getting sub-4 in Prague. I failed miserably, getting my worst time in years. But hope springs eternal! Iβm vaguely training for Chester in October and starting to think I could be ready for a good time for it. And by good time, I mean sub 4:00:00 ππ€ |

Thanks very much everyone for your warm we!come. I am delighted to have found myself here. I'll be around for at least a year - maybe 2 or more. A quick bit about me. Found myself here after openly perusing the potential possibilities of doing a sub 3 - and to be honest - where I am in the grand scheme of things, I have no right to be thinking of such a tall order, let alone talking of it. So no more of that nonsense ....for now. Right now 4 hrs looks immense and I'd be absolutely thrilled if I get it at first attempt or have a near miss. Plan to give it a go next spring. Probably Milton Keynes. Right now I'm a month into gradually bringing the weekly mileage up and trying to be consistent. Also trying to tweak some changes in general to allow more time for training. Currently aiming for a steady 4 runs a week for a little while, then push on from there. Last and only proper marathon was 12 years ago which didn't go well, so things can only get better. |

Fenland Flier
I took a year to train for my first marathon and ran London in 4.07, of course I wanted sub 4 but there were far too many people. Consistency is definitely key Wezza and like has been said by V'rap you have time to build that up. Good luck. roberton good luck at Chester. |

Thanks Fenland Flier. There are only 2 occasions where I've previously had any kind of consistency during the last 15 years (only a couple of months worth, as well) , and both resulted in PBs of some kind or other. So there's something in that π
