Stepford Wife
Nice example at work today: we used an automated workshop system which texts the customer to tell them their bike is ready. I finished a job today, signed it off and about ten minutes later had a call from someone saying they'd received a text but it was't theirs as they don't have a bike. They'd rung to let us know just so we could check the number and find the right customer. How many people would have bothered to do that? In reality it's not helped the original customer much as they gave us the wrong number, but I thought that was lovely.

People are nice generally do you not think?
A couple of things I've realised since beginning this is that 1. Random acts of kindness above and beyond normal daily activities are not as easy to do naturally as I thought so maybe I've always been nice, which leads me to 2. I am automatically thinking about doing nice things or how i could have been nicer as I do them and also realising, as mentioned, that yes generally people are nice and I like the fact that I am now appreciating that fact more.
Peace x

SW, that reminds me of a time when somebody left a message on my answerphone, which was clearly not meant for me. Left a number so I called her back to let her know what she'd done. That, unfortunately, ended with her yelling I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT at me.
Some people don't want to be helped; in the spirit of the thread, I won't let that stop me doing the same thing again.

I've found the same, TT It's quite difficult to shoehorn in additional random acts of kindness when you're accustomed to being pleasant and polite or where your job is much easier if you're kind to people.
I remain convinced that I'm on the receiving end of at least as many acts of kindness, both targeted and random, as I perpetrate. I'm cool with that. Letting someone be kind to you is an act of kindness in itself

I agree T.
Today's RAK isn't really anything out of the ordinary, just part of looking after my team.
A number of Fetchies have been very kind to me of late and I'm so grateful for their words of comfort and advice. Only one of them gets on this thread tho.

Instead of sending an email response to someone, I sought them out and talked to them to ensure they didn't feel that the response was critical in any way. Sometimes it's hard to get the same tone with electronic messages as with the spoken word.

Agree with others. I am not going out of my way to be kind and realise I do kind things all the time. It's nice to have that awareness though.
Today I let the dog walker swap days even though it wasn't terribly convenient. I did a wardrobe clear out yesterday and chose to charity shop a few items instead of eBay them. I put aside a Horrible Histories book to donate to one of my schools.

I think one of the really nice things this thread does is helps you focus on the positive. I love a good moan as much as the next person, but thinking of the good is even better .... maybe we should include the RAK that we have received on here too???

I saw on a rather random thing which popped up on Facebook that the independent cafe in town does 'pay it forward' drinks but is in a deficit right now. I'm really skint at the moment but I'm going into town tomorrow to run errands. If I don't take the bus and don't buy a tea for myself, I can afford to go in and pay for a couple of hot drinks for their homeless customers. After all, I have the luxury of walking to a warmish house and making a cup of tea in my kitchen.
