Sounds like a good plan Shades with extra day recovery for the moment.Mr WP usually stays up all night on election night.

Easy recovery run after poor sleep due to heat. The state of my bed tells it's own story :)

Well, the Wattbike has turned up and I’ve set it up. Delivery men weren’t too happy, commenting ‘you live up a mountain’, which really was a bit of an extreme reaction :) But it’s up two flights of steps from the road to the house, and then when they asked where I wanted it I pointed upstairs, so it was another flight from there. And the bike is very heavy so of course I do sympathise.

I tried to get my old pedals off the road bike as they work with my cleats, but they were seized on. There are ways of getting them off I think, but I ordered a new set which should be here later. The bike does come with pedals with toe clips, but I want my other pedals for racing etc.

Big G - the delivery men obviously weren't local then 😉

I see Chicago is the latest to tighten up their GFA times,5 minutes again, still seems just about the easiest as it's guaranteed if you're under.

Ian - not unexpected Chicago tightening up the GFA times. More runners racing and finding it harder to achieve ballot/general entries to a race.

Shades-Not a surprise at all, can't actually remembering them altering them since I've been looking at it.
I've said it before but I wish all had guaranteed entry, they have so much data now, they wouldn't be far off, even knock a few more minutes off if it meant you knew what to aim for exactly.

7 after work,it felt the complete opposite of yesterday.
When I have a rough run or not feeling great I occasionally pop on an old pair of Vaporfly as I know I'll run faster and feel better about it all so I did that today amd it worked a treat.

Ian - I guess the big races each have their own race entry procedures and are unlikely to make any radical changes.

Dublin have now introduced GFA entries but only for Athletics Ireland members as the ballot is oversubscribed.

There's plenty of other marathons folk can do if they don't get ballot or GFA places.

Good you had a better run today.

Shades - My eyes popped wide open at the Dublin GFA option, then I realised. Fair enough, with London GFA times only being open to UK residents. Now that I'm 60 I've got a fighting chance of getting a Berlin GFA time, so that may become a target for Valencia in December.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
