We're expecting to fly to Málaga rather than Seville when we go over in January for the Seville Half and the Torremolinos Half (the races are really just a peg on which to hang a holiday in Andalucía in the British winter). We flew Manchester -> Seville and back this year for the marathon, but the train journey between Seville and Málaga was so easy and inexpensive that it seemed the obvious solution for next time. It also meant that it occurred to me to book flights to and from Alicante rather than Valencia for the Valencia Marathon.

@Big_G , my daughter used to live in Cadiz so has flown to Madrid then train to Sevilla and onwards. She has also flown to Malaga! A good trip would be Malaga out, then Madrid on the way back if you were extending your stay!

Velo, Alehouse - thanks. I’m hoping I get a race place off the waiting list now!

WP-It doesn't mean much about the Age groups with Abbott, they have hundreds of races that are linked to it now.
Big G-Others have beat me to it,but a clubmate did a few days in Malaga before Seville then trained it up.

Woke this morning with what I think is a cold, I was so cross. But RHR was normal so I still went out for 5 miles. I did a very hilly route I haven't done for a couple of years, 2nd mile is a climb of 244 feet, so needless to say a lot of walking. Still felt like I have a cold so I ran very little but kept HR down.
Chilly morning.

I tried pasting the list in the 'About this thread' but it lost the column formatting and automatically uploaded as a picture and pasted in the thread as above. So not sure how to post a pic in with the description, I'll try another day.

For the image, there will be a code associated with it in square brackets, in the format of [IMAGE ABCDE]. Possibly try copying that whole code (including the square brackets) into the ‘About this thread’ section. I’ve never done it, and I don’t how the image will format, but it’s worth a try if only to see what it looks like.

Had an unplanned rest day yesterday, as just felt like I needed one, but heading out for a run shortly.

Thanks Big G, that worked, you are clever

Had an email to say my data has been breached in that big breach announced yesterday. This is from Avis so my driver's licence number plus all usual personal data 😡. Avis have offered a year's free subscription to a credit agency so apparently I can keep checking for identity fraud, etc., not sure I'll do that.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
