They could circumvent UCI WC restrictions like that already, esp smart watches with cell connection. Presume the reason they don't is that that is banned too?

The regulations take an approach of explicitly describing the limitations of the equipment. There is a clause about only using a system confined to the race, and that would prevent use of a cell connected device.

Linking radios to the tragic death of Furrer. Latest semi-official reports are that she was unnoticed as missing for up to 1.5 hours after she crashed. This isn't some two-bit junior race, it's the world champs!!

Transponders are clearly only used at very few sections on a road race, but radio comms *might* have helped her? Or some other tracking device that allowed for at least 1 way communications. Hell, even if she'd just had strava Beacon set up!

I can also only try to imagine how any riders who maybe saw / sensed / heard her crash and assumed someone behind would come to her aid might be thinking.

I heard about the delay on Roadman yesterday. That's appalling. Given that we have phones which can call for help if they detect a fall surely there's a simple and relatively cheap tech solution to crash detection available?

And I know it might not be economical for every little race going but as you say @larkim this was the World Champs!

The delay is what had been reported but not confirmed previously. It's pretty shocking for a UCI event on a circuit and there are a lot of questions to be answered. It may not have made a difference but clearly 90 mins can be significant for the chances of surviving a head injury.

Pogacar is at it again Emilia. I was hoping I could focus on the Gravel WC finish without distraction (I suppose I might be able to if the race is already won).

The GOAT wins the the gravel world champs in a sprint against Kopecky who stopped sprinting in the end. Another thing to add to Vos' amazing career.

Also another indication of the mistakes made last week. Netherlands should have been making sure Vos was there if Kopecky was.

Just seen the culmination of the downhill mountain biking. What a sport! Needs adding to the Olympic programme.

It is insane and very exciting to watch.

Have you seen this clip from a 2015 where a guy broke his chain off the start and just used gravity to get to the bottom and win?
