Fair enough, however there are 'hotels' in pretty much every town that authorities use to house people that have that sort of reputation regardless of where the residents come from.

I agree, I personally don't judge entire classes of people based on the actions of the minority, but that requires a few more brain cells than these groups seem to have collectively.

Tim Walz was the person who described the Trump campaign as ‘weird’. That description appears to have caught the imagination of the Democrats. I certainly think that Trump has serious problems and it is perhaps understandable that the Dems might want to describe him as weird. However I do not think it is sensible to place too much emphasis on the ‘weirdness’. I think it would be better to be explicit about the nature of Trump’s weaknesses. Nonetheless, in addition to introducing the term weird, Walz is a powerful presenter. I think he is a good pick for VP running mate, but nonetheless a bit risky. |

I don't think it matters who she picked out of Shapiro, Walz, Kelly or Mayor Pete. Personally I'd have gone with the latter because he is *very* comfortable on the media - particularly hostile media and he's much younger than the rest. The common pundit pick was Shapiro because he's gov of PA, and so the recieved wisdom is that it boosts the vote in that state (and PA is more or less the ballpark at the moment), but the evidence suggests that it's ~1-2% at most. In short. Doesn't really matter much. |

Btw, I'm almost certain Mayor Pete will run for Pres again either in 2028 or 2032 and he'll surely be the nominee then. But he's not run for office outside of South Bend which might well hamper him. He's not going to get elected either as a senator or governor in Indiana, which might be the issue. |

Someone's got to appeal to the stale pale frail men. It's normally the presidential candidate, of course. A DEI hire if ever I saw one. |

Yeah, I am uncomfortable with that line of attack @Canute but I don't know that much about US politics

I think Walz provides a good balance to Kamala. He is a midwestern centrist, which is likely to be reasonably acceptable in the rust-belt. As I see it, the two essentisals for choice of VP running mate were acceptability in the rust belt and avoiding inflaming the Palestinian issue. One the hand, Shapiro might have inflamed the Palestinian issue. |

I think the description of the Trump campaign as "weird" is perfect. It cuts through in a way that trying to deconstruct his ad-hoc approach to policy doesn't.

It's not necessarily the best and certainly not the only line to use, but I don't see a problem with a diversity of approaches. I thought the "I'm a prosecutor and I know Trump's type" was good.
