I bet the folk murdered in Japan by the US 1945 war crimes would see it that way

There were no deterrents back then as the US was the sole nuclear power, so that doesn't really follow?

Trump showing what a serious leader he is by picking a lot of his cabinet based on how stupid they are.
Matt Gaetz as AG. A Fox news host as Sec Def. Lots of the other posts just going to his acolytes and cheerleaders.
Put dumb in, get dumb out. Should be interesting.
Or, alternatively, it really is pure genius and will work like a well oiled machine. Only time will tell. I know what my money is on.

They all present as being pretty well oiled for sure.
What could go wrong?

Marjorie Taylor Greene as Secretary for Sanity and Inclusion? Kristi Noem as Secretary for Animal Welfare?

I'd like to hope that one of the key checks and balances in Congress is that any legislation that comes to them for approval will be so poorly drafted and considered that even the lightest scrutiny will see it bogged down in process as it is unpicked and resolved, partly as a consequence of having appalling people at the top appointing incompetent people to do the leg work.
At the very least the House will contain enough non-Trump Reps to stall or delay or prevent approval.
A forlorn hope maybe.

Problem is if the democrats use the filibuster too much, the Republicans may change the rules. Thune has said it will stay for now but I can imagine Trump and other republicans will start putting pressure on at some point.
I think the appointments are the ones that really believe in the ideology though, Trump is just the person that could get them into power.

Thune has said he will stick to proper appointment hearings though. And a few Reps are really unhappy about Gaetz

Yes, but I expect pressure to ramp up quickly if it's Dems blocking things, will be interesting to see if he holds the line then. A bit different if it's Reps as that's more likely to force compromise.

I don't quite know how recess appointments work. I get the "we're on holiday, we delegate authority to appoint in case of pressing need", but is it a process that can be subverted? i.e. can the GOP leadership artificially create a "recess" by imposing a suspension on the proceedings, then use the recess appointments process? Whatever, it will take time Trump to reach a point of frustration, and whilst that clock is ticking the world is marginally safer!! Delay is a helpful thing!
