He just created Truth Social 2.0 before Truth Social was even created.

You can actually still use Twitter in a semi sensible way with the following tab as all you'll see is what you follow (clearly that will get harder as people leave) but the point about it being the digital town square is when things happened, you could find out about them in a fairly organic way on there and essentially what ended with reach was based on combination on what you showed interest in and what others liked that fit with that. The town square bit is presumably just 'verified' accounts now paying to get reach and if you respond to something outrageous from one of them, then you're helping them achieve what they want. Reading the story of the Twitter sale, it seems essentially the shareholders forced it given it was way more than the company was valued at. Would have been nice for it to have been a community resource. How does BlueSky work? I note it started life as a Twitter add on created by the guy that created Twitter. |

Just seen what doge, or DOGE is. So basically Musk, of whom two of his companies account for $15bn of government contracts, is head of cutting government spending. Definitely no conflict of interests. |

Bluesky seems to be a slightly more distributed form of Twitter, also less of an algorithm (though as stated if you just follow who you want, not such an issue anyway). I haven’t looked in detail. Seems to work ok, is the point.

Thanks jda, I'll have a look at some point. John Thune is the new Republican senate leader so Trump (or those behind as I don't believe Trump made an endorsement) hasn't got his pick although that doesn't mean this pick won't do what he wants but it's interesting that the guy Trump supporters wanted finished third. |

As I understand it, Musk won't be part of the government due to all the obvious conflicts of interest and DoGE will be outside of the government. There are apparently questions on how it will be funded and held accountable. Trifling details I'm sure. Maybe xitter will rise up and vote that his underperforming space-x vanity project gets defunded? |

Just put them in a cage until there's one left. On second thoughts, just weld the cage shut and put it somewhere out of earshot. Permanently. |

Maybe xitter will rise up and vote that his underperforming space-x vanity project gets defunded? Apparently Trump cannot just create a department, so it has to be an external advisory agency only. Might be wrong, but I think that much like here, a department has to come from a budgetary process. Which is why it's probably unlikely that despite saying it, Trump will eliminate the Dept Education. He can run it into the ground, but I don't think he can get rid of it. |
