Gaetz, who has an ongoing investigation into **checks notes** sex trafficking and sleeping with a minor (of which there's evidence I believe, he kept the receipt as she was an escort), nominated for AG. He has less legal qualifications than my son (who has a law degree) to be AG. It's beyond the beyond, even for trolling. It's basically a loyalty test I've read, Republicans back me, or Musk will fund primaries against you in 2026. He's already lost 1 senator, and has another (Collins) as a maybe, he can only afford to lose one more really. And also the PA senate seat has gone to an automatic recount. Republicans will win that (still 29,000 lead), but it will take time. And let's not forget Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, who parrots Russian talking points endlessly. I don't buy the conspiracy she's a Russian spy/plant but she certainly toes a very pro Putin line. Yes I know she was a dem until recently, but like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema (ex-Green (who went anti Green), ex Dem (who went anti Dem) she who curtsied before denying a stimulus/bailout check in voting, and whose lack of a vote cost the whole vote), Gabbard was effectively a Republican in Democrat's clothing. |

After a shaky start, Starmer seems to be finding some comfortable ground at PMQs at the moment, do we think? Seems more relaxed and able to knock back the Tories (and Badenoch in particular) relatively easily. My only concern, despite Starmer being flanked by Rayner and Reeves on the front bench, is that he might risk falling into being characterised as mansplaining or patronising towards Badenoch. I'm sure she would be the last person to try to run that defence for herself given her views, but am I barking up the wrong tree here? |

Badenoch is quick enough to reference her race or gender if she thinks it can put someone on the back foot (remember the David Tennant furore?).

It's basically a loyalty test I've read, Republicans back me, or Musk will fund primaries against you in 2026. When you have people like Vivek Ramaswamy in the cabinet (whose policies in the Republican primary included abolishing the FBI and withdrawing from NATO), I don't think you need to be a conspiracy theorist to assume that very well organised parts of the state apparatus will be finding ways to oppose things. |

Yeah the more this shitshow goes on, the more I'm convinced they will trash things without doing any lasting meaningful damage that the next Democrat president can't undo. Meanwhile - a bunch of computer scientists have written to Harris saying the Dominion software had breaches demonstrated by Trump allies in 2021 and 2022 (more to prove that it was theoretically possible), and that a recount should be conducted of paper ballots to make sure there was no actual breach. For the record I don't believe there was one, I think the senate race in Pennsylvania which the Dems will lose shows there was a small but significant swing against Harris, and reluctance to believe no down ballot voting (but again that's been demonstrated by polls that some people do vote Trump pres, Dem for senate - for balances and checks or just vote Trump and leave rest blank). But one to keep a weather eye on, and it's probably good sanitary practice to make sure paper and computer affirmations tally. (and if Repubs were honest, they'd go we won fair and square - recount away, we will own you again libs, rather than crying foul, but we know that this would also debunk their own 2020 was stolen line) |

Ha yes great cartoon. Did I ever mention in my Comp Sci degree, my group thesis was on safety critical systems (paying particular regard to air traffic ones)? And it was bloody terrifying! Didn't help my tutor was involved in investigating what went wrong with the software in the Paris airshow crash. Flying is still safest of course, but still you don't want to know some of the errors...

I honestly think it behoves everyone on the anti-Trump side of things to be utterly silent about voting machines, ballot fraud etc etc. Because even caveating with "I don't think there's anything wrong, but best be sure" is the crack in the door which leads to "every time there is an election that some people don't like the outcome of, challenge the method". Keep the issue off the political agenda. |

That's a bit like saying lets not mention the bug in the flight software, and hope the pilot doesn't encounter it... Normally I'd agree BUT, there's already a vulnerability/breach. It would be the same if the Dems had won it. The republicans are still crying foul in this election about losing Nevada and Arizona senate seats after 4 days of counting, so it's not like there isn't already a crack in the door. |
