I wonder whether all those Muslim Americans who voted for Trump are delighted now that Trump has chosen as his ambassador to Israel a man who is 100% behind the expansion of settlements in the West Bank by Israel?

Were the dems doing anything better - surely believing they should and probably trying, but was it effective? It's back to the point a few have made here, the current status quo looked bad and was going nowhere so they took a punt on change. Maybe they think peace and reduced territory is preferable to ongoing genocide. It's a really tragic situation |

I can understand someone feeling they couldn’t vote for a party supporting genocide. Harder to understand why they’d actively switch to a party that supported it more brazenly and aggressively without any likelihood of a change of course.

It's already been reported Trump told Netanyahu that the fighting needs to be over by the new year when he takes power. There is no upside for Trump to have continued genocide and he's clearly transactional rather than led by principles so won't look at it in any other way than what is in it for him. Why do you think there will be no change of course? |

I meant no likelihood of being swayed by humanitarian concerns. Trump’s version of “end the fighting” seems likely to mean “finish the job”. Of course I could be wrong but Trump has rarely done the right thing when there’s any alternative. |

I'm sure he couldn't care less how many are killed, unless it costs US money and then he cares a lot. That's the kind of guy he is. He is so unprincipled he's not even a classic villain, he's just a selfish twat with an eye fixed on the bottom line and will do good/evil/whatever to achieve it. Plenty of folk will get on board with that as we have seen, sadly. |

Seems like Trump is appointing his cabinet based on how far up his arse they are. What could possibly go wrong? 😁 |

I agree with Simbil. Dems had a chance to offer better, why didn't they? They actively ignored the issue in the election and I read they refused to have an American Palestinian on stage at the convention. As far as I can see, they were given absolutely nothing to hope for in the campaign. Trump played lip service to them at the very least and he managed to get Michigan leaders on stage.
