Anyway I don't think the real issue is people voting for Trump though some did (possibly swayed by the endorsement from the Muslim leaders in Michigan). Most voted Stein or possibly stayed away.

I think this weird belief that the US president can snap their fingers and Netanyhu would suddenly come to heel and immediately stop the war is just stupid. There's only one country that can stop it. |

No one said they can snap their fingers but they can clearly do more.

Various people on here have suggested it. That Biden could end the Israeli action tomorrow. Could the US do more, maybe, but I remain unconvinced that in the short to medium term it would make that much difference to the outcomes in the Gaza occupation. Israel would get arms from somewhere. And if the alternative is Trump who we know is going to sell *more* arms to Israel and allow them to completely occupy the west bank and Gaza and probably expell all Palestinians from the country, then.... |

I'm not sure where Israel would get F15s from, maybe eBay?

If Israel lost 69% of their supply, I'm not sure they would get arms from somewhere really cuts it. Another country stepping in to cover that gap seems very unlikely.

Major imports: 66% US 30% Germany 4% Italy Also make some themselves; plus US stockpiles. From those who argue about what US (other countries applicable) could do better, export of arms is going to always come high. bbc.co.uk |

The data above is from 2013 to 2023. The same article says it was 69% between 2019 and 2023.

The only shift it seems from the various data there from 2013 to 2023, to 2019 to 2023, is US up from 66% to 69%, and Italy down from 4% to less than 1%.

How many F15s have Israel lost in Gaza?? And it wouldn't immediately stop the occupation. If anything it might make it worse. Plus there are the ramifications of what happens when e.g. Iran or Russia see the US pulling support from Israel. I agree the US could do more, but I think the "straightforward" "solutions" presented are unlikely to have the desired response in the timescales expected. |
