And, of course, if others can be seen to lose, that's the kind of transactional win his psyche needs.

But some would say America feels its has too much on its plate. It sees China as a threat and wants to spend more attention there, which means Europe taking up more of the reins for the defense of their own backyard. Isn't the US (with or without Trump) and UK and Europe's agenda on defense aligned? (so not so much "his" agenda as our mutual agenda).

Yes there is something in that, the emerging world order is waning superpowers and an ascendant China and all the readjustments that will bring.

Great to see Labour and the Tories in lock-step agreement that we mustn't do the one substantive thing that would actually repair some of the recent damage to our economy. Just think how terrible that would be.

Bluesky seems to finally be reaching exit velocity, just been going through all my Twitter follows and most (90%+) are on Bluesky and posting. Be leaving Twitter very shortly. It is the right thing to do.

I no longer use Twitter. I still check in there periodically out of habt but will stop doing so very soon. Pretty well everyone I used to follow there is now on Bluesky, and for most of them it's now their primary place of activity. It does for me exactly what Twitter used to, before Musk destroyed it.

Loads of people have moved after the election and you can use the website without an account which is good.

I noticed Steve Magness posted about the madness of having RFK in charge of Health on Twitter and BlueSky. Not much engagement on BlueSky but on Twitter his replies are full RFK defenders.

I had a twitter account, but never got into it. I rarely looked at it and it’s probably ten years since I logged in. I do follow the odd link.

The guardian left twitter yesterday and a significant bunch of journalists have moved over too. The exodus that I've been waiting for for a good while now is fully underway.

Starter packs are really cool, great idea, lists of people in a certain subject area.
