It's alright them all pointing the finger at each other, especially when so many of them are guilty, but none of this finger-pointing is providing a single solution.

What can men do against such reckless hate? I'm stumped. |

Shashank Joshi (defence editor at The Economist) posted a thread of the abuse he's receiving on X - and none of it was judged against guidelines when he reported it. Horrendous. x.com |

My office in Huddersfield has been closed today as there is a far right 'protest' rumoured to be happening in the town today. They claim its motivated out of fear of mass immigration & what that brings. No refugee has ever caused my office to shut Who's the terrorist ? |

Are we to believe these people are taking a days' annual leave to cause panic in the provincial towns that we jog round? Or should they be jobseeking, and therefore need their benefits stopping? Or should I be more sympathetic towards them? |

I think the right to peaceful protest is a fundamental element of our democracy. I note prison sentences of up to 5y recently handed out to some people who blocked roads (etc) but were not really a threat to the public. A mob of violent arsonists is a far greater danger. |

I'm hoping that they will be met with some very stern justice in due course, as police go through video footage. Like the Jan 6 insurrectionists in the States, most of these people are such fuckwits that they don't realise filming each other doing these things and uploading the footage to the Internet is, er, unhelpful to their future prospects.

In update / context to Minnie's post last night, an update from a court reporter in Leeds: Barrister: I'm told my client slept in. Judge: Ah, bless him. His bed may not be as comfy this evening. |
