Musk has totally lost it.
Anyone who thinks he's a non-partisan bystander who happens to own twitter isn't following along.
He's totally radicalised himself into the far right.

Musk is actually inciting stuff by jumping on things in the UK he knows nothing about. I never thought he was non-partisan though, TBH that was part of why people were concerned about him taking over Twitter. It's basically been destruction from within.

"Trump campaign attacks Walz as 'dangerously liberal extremist'"
So much better than being a 'dangerously racist and fascist extremist' though, oh orange one!

I just don’t get how someone you describe as liberal can be thought of as dangerous. A socialist possibly could be, and a communist certainly. But, “liberal”? What exactly is the big scary danger here - that they don’t demonise minorities and persecute the vulnerable? That they let people get on with their lives so long as they behave in a socially acceptable manner?

Liberal in the US has a meaning much closer to socialist and communist. They use it to mean people who want more state control and a lowering of free market economics. So it's about regulation and is used by the right to suggest that people want to seize control of all companies.
In Europe it means practically the opposite. But what Trump means is the same as communist, rather than our meaning of it.

It also means socially Liberal (though I agree it also means economically socialist and amateur interventionist). And they (Conservative, Christian right) are terrified of social liberality. Never understand why. Latent sexual repression probably!
I'm very worried that prosecution of criminal thuggery is going to be seen as repressive and fuel more protests and riots. Don't know how to solve though - a charm offensive? Massive investment in inner city deployment? Education?

The thing that surprised me most about Musk was how seemingly brainless he is at arguing. Pretty much like a kid saying 'no you'.
But his motive is probably just getting more people shouting at each other on xitter. I don't follow links that go there anymore and deleted my account a while back. It's a service that only thrives if people use it.

Yes, I associate it with social liberalism. It's a melange of Evangelical Christian "values", white nationalism, grievance and a yearning to return the country back to what it was in the 1950s.
A country run by white men for white men; but unfortunately for them they don't have a majority for their New Gilead, so if democracy can't give them what they want, then autocracy it is.
