One dead, two critically injured. And yes, still a close call. Quote from a rally attendee in the BBC report "How could this happen to us?" Because guns and hatred you dumbass! I won't be at all surprised if it turns out to be a plot within the Republican movement somewhere (they are absolutely fucking batshit) but equally there are an awful lot of people who are justifiably terrified at what they'll face if Trump gets re-elected and it wouldn't take much to convince one of them it was worth a shot. Gay, Trans, Black, poor, Latinos, American Ukrainians etc. There's a lot of choices. |

Trump himself is claiming he was hit by a bullet, but given the earlier reports and the video I've just seen on the BBC of where the shooter was relative to the stage, if it was a bullet that hit his ear it would have killed him. It was fired from off to Trumps right, to the side of the stage. The dead attendee was in the stands to the left of the stage. bbc.co.uk |

He incites his followers to violence and then calls the perpetrators "patriots", "hostages" and "political prisoners". He uses violent assaults on his opponents to get cheap laughs at his rallies. If you use violent language, violence results. We haven't seen the end of the violence yet.

Returning to sport, I for one don't want to see Union football and rugby teams. I am Scottish and want to follow my country's teams and sing my country's anthem before games. Would love to see England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland also compete at athletics Olympics & World's etc. |

The Northern Irish have complained about the athletics team name being GB and not UK in the past. I think the shooting at Trump is, sadly, likely to give him a big step to a win, as if it's needed with the Biden age fisco going on FFS. |

"Would love to see England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland also compete at athletics Olympics & World's etc" I suspect, but stand to be corrected, but given funding models, you'd see fewer medals as constituent home countries teams, rather than the current Team GB model. |
