Lindsey Hoyle said yesterday the safety of MPs was his biggest fear. Some of the replies on X kind of proved why.

Assassination attempts will never stop but last night surely never surprised anyone. Some of it comes down from so much awful rhetoric and the complete amount of cranks.

I suppose it’s about time someone shot at Trump to even things up, Biden has been shooting himself in the foot for months

Biden’s statement in response seems very impressive. Though a little like Sunak after defeat then first day back in charge parliament, some rhetoric seems very late. Neither Trump - clearly - is not an innocent party in condoning violence, conspiracy, coup, etc.

I don’t know where this is all leading but I’m guessing it’s nowhere good. The USA needs to snap out of its MAGA fever dream pronto or the 250 year old “American Experiment” will be over.

So many Politicians virtually all the same. Israel said there’s no room for violence in politics. And Biden’s response was impressive though not long after I’ve seen he said Trump should be in a bullseye.

He means everyone support him. That's what "unity" has always meant to the far right. See also "will of the people".

Possibly the left wing is similarly myopic and narcissistic. Examples welcome.

Jeremy Corbyn was at the Durham miners gala yesterday and has an alibi so Starmer won’t be able to extradite him as a suspect
