Well given that they're only being given a choice between a nice old guy that's past it or a Fascist who incited an unsuccessful coup and laughs at the disabled while threatening violence and the fall of American Democracy I'm relieved that they do.
But yes, a stronger Democratic option in the race earlier would have been a good thing.
