Proves the point. The "red wall" constituencies don't actually have that long a track record of voting for labour either btw.
And actually they are more demographically similar to other constituencies that consistently vote Tory.
So if labour is losing these voters, but gaining graduate/urban voters in return, their politics and policy positions as a party will necessarily change naturally as a result.

Yeah, you're right 3M, some realignment is always going to happen.
I think the point is that pandering to certain types of voters is never going to be a successful strategy, and that offering a broad base of sensible policies with offerings to the "broad church" is almost always going to be a better electoral strategy.
Which is why I find ideological purity so infuriating.
