Several reputable sources been reporting that part of the reason Sue Gray has decided to take the jump to a job with Labour is that Badenoch wanted her to run her new dept as permanent sec and Simon Case (cabinet sec) blocked it - it seems in part as revenge for her report into the covid parties that he himself attended with a certain B Johnson and was responsble for the culture in Downing St....

Has anyone asked Mancock about his total lack of ethics in turning over thousands of private messages to a journalist?

I think the point is that pandering to certain types of voters is never going to be a successful strategy
It worked for the leavers in the EU referendum.

Brexit is a binary subject Fields, so by definition, it can only have "extreme" or pure policy. You can only be in or out of the EU. There really isn't much nuance there. Ultimate purity!
Whereas purity or extremism in wider political policy is rightly criticised as being unrealistic and unhelpful (in my humble opinion). You are a smart bloke, so I know you know this stuff. Which is why it frustrates me a bit that you twist what others say. I don't know if you do it because it amuses you, but it's not helpful in terms of reasonable political discussion. Which this thread aspires to (as I understand it from the side bar / header description).

Dvorak, the leavers pandered to a whole lot of different voters with different lies, never producing anything akin to a coherent manifesto outlining what they would do. The Bangladeshi Caterers Association, for example, believed it would help them get staff for their restaurants. And some fishermorons thought it would help their markets too.

There was a lot of pandering, and a majority voted leave. And then we left the EU. Which has turned into a shitshow in a fire sale. As forecast by many. Nonetheless, from the point of view of the panderers, their strategy was enormously successful.

NB: A majority of those who cast a vote, although not a majority of the total electorate.
