Would the SM/CU be a solve, or at least a route to a solve of the NI protocol/issue ?

Yes, it would broadly make most NI border issues disappear.

I wonder how many leave voters, whether they listened to the debates, arguments, all the rhetoric or not, wanted to stay in the SM/CU.

Given the small margin, I'd say it would have been enough to split the difference.

Well if you wanted freedom of movement to end, you don't want to be in the single market.

Paulcook. Literally no brexit voter voted for the same thing.

It was obvious about the general direction of travel we'd end up with (which is why the lexit whining would be funny if the circumferences weren't so awful), but the specifics were never defined.

Hence Hannan's quote above.

And of course, literally all sensible predictions about what a disaster it would be have of course been proven to be correct.

But don't forget 'greece neoliberal something something immigration foreigners' etc.

Yeah. It's that kind of rhetoric I mean.

The campaign generally was the most toxic, bullshit election campaign I witnessed. I went from previously following and covering typical election campaigns, to being utterly turned off by the whole charade.

All I can vaguely remember now is Norway-plus / Switzerland / even Canada (?) models.

Also no one is talking about the reduction in banking taxes. Didn't Sunak "work" in banking?
