Obviously I disagree with Trump, but it was a direct message to him in disagreement with one of the main things that got him elected in a public arena. I'd have been surprised if he didn't take umbridge. TBH I think most politicians would likely take umbridge with it (I guess how is the question). I could imagine a situation where a fire and brimstone preacher was railing against the expansion of rights under a progressive president (those are after all the majority of Christians that are likely backing Trump).

I'm glad people find the courage to speak up. Calling for mercy for people is common from the Church - the Pope has been saying similar.

Taking umbrage at someone expressing such a thing? Well, there's a clear answer to that: listen to the message and dont attack the messenger.
And using your bully pulpit to single out this woman is disgusting, and shows there is no bottom to his vindictiveness. I mean, when will people stop excusing and normalising this stuff?
