I used to engage in here quiet heavily Diogenes.

And the fact that I now post very infrequently yet still get abuse proves the point.

Yes Canute it's basically wishful thinking and make-believe, mostly intended as a fig-leaf so any adverse consequences can be countered with "well it didn't have to turn out like this, my One True Brexit (that only exists in my head) would have been much better". See also Corbyn with his "jobs-first Brexit".

If the goal had been to massively increase trade with eg China, then we could just have copied Germany and stayed in the EU.

Thank you Dio, you said what I was trying to say, but couldn't formulate.

I was asked to review the two posts on page 2456 - and have removed them. By all means disagree with each other. Question and challenge beliefs (including your own). Point out logical flaws in arguments - it's much more potent. But please don't get personal.

Regarding Stander's unwillingness to describe his reasons - I do recall that he did so - or at least one of them. I looked back - it's on page 2030. I remember because I offered up my thoughts on why I didn't agree that leaving the EU was a necessary step to control immigration *even if* immigration is a genuine problem (and I don't think it is, in any case). I'd like to think that my response was reasonable - and proof that it is possible for those who are keen on leaving the EU to state their views.

(Linds, I'm assuming that you are referring to my post second from the top on page 2457)

No, your post 44650 on page 2458. It's what I would have liked to say to Stander but couldn't formulate it.

Is there some way of getting back to page 2030 easily?

Yes just edit the URL (maybe go back a page or two first to see how it works).

Thanks JDA, I did just that to review the posts.

Fetch - I have never had an issue with debating with you.

Sadly, this does not hold true for everyone in this thread. And it is why I (and others) feel unable to discuss this matter in here.
