Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve on occasion had my posts moderated and I appreciate that both the moderation is fairly light touch here and that there’s a mechanism to report stuff. I’ve appreciated Ian messaging me to explain why and I’ve used the opportunity to reflect and try not to post in the same way again.

I have on occasion overstepped the mark on a few threads - sometimes my passion for a subject can get me in trouble - and have found the mute thread option quite handy to put it out of sight for a few days.

While I do post on some of the more contentious threads such as the politics one, I enjoy posting on plenty of others too - so I hope not all of my posts would be such that they demand ignoring :-)

I wouldn’t use an ignore user function myself. Such a function would mess up the music game thread for a start which is one of my favourites :-)

Though unfortunately poor behaviour exists everywhere - I’ve just had to post this on our FB page after this morning facebook.com

Sorry to read that. I would slightly take issue with your Facebook post in that abuse wouldn't/shouldn't be tolerated in most paid for races either and would also be easier to identify the abuser.

Has anyone done Dudley parkrun? Planning on doing it week after next when I am in the area?
Is it one for trail shoes?

The start and finish are laps of a running track, so you you will want your track spikes for that, then there is a section on tarmac paths and the canal tow path so you will want to change into your road shoes for that bit, then there is a muddy hill to climb so you might want your trail shoes for that part. After the hill remember to change back into your road shoes for the run back to the stadium.

I've run it a couple of times in normal road shoes, so I don't think trail shoes are essential.

I agree - there have been a few posters over the years whose politics stuck in my craw but were downright entertaining on the rugby thread, for one thing (I'm not talking about you here, Fields!). There have been very few forumites whose views I could have done without on every single thread where they posted.

Speaking of Black Country parkruns, I'm at the National Running Show in two weeks, I don't have a car, and I fancy a parkrun. Staying on the NEC campus, but I don't want to bring lots of luggage. So I really only want to wear one pair of shoes. As I'm not sure I can run in a pair of Chuck Taylors, I'll be wearing New Balance road shoes all weekend and don't want to change.

What I'm after, therefore, is a parkrun on a bus route from the NEC campus, which is all on tarmac and which is unlikely to waterlog excessively.

Oakwood seems to fit the bill, and has the added bonus of being a letter that I haven't yet collected.
